SNAP CAPS / DUMMY ROUNDS 9mm x 5
If you own a 9mm in South Africa, then you need snap caps. Firearms training should be compulsory and can be done on your own with snap caps in your lounge. A snap cap is an inert round that looks like a 9mm round but does not go bang. You use snap caps/dummy rounds when teaching others to shoot. It is much safer as any accidental firing of the weapon is now not going to end in tragedy. Snap caps are also handy when you are training yourself. If you mix them in your mags on the range (or get someone else to load them for you). This helps with stoppage drills. SO put in a few in your mag. And run a scenario. When you are engaging your target and you hit a snap cap you will there run through your stoppage drill. (tap and rack would be useful here). The snap caps can be bought online here for your firearms training
Snap caps come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some a very realistic which can be problematic when trying to differentiate them from live rounds. The RAM series are bright red with brass bases and a spring inside. The spring is there to absorb shock from the firing pin and so reduce wear and tear on your fire arm. In South Africa we all need to keep our shooting skills at the top of our abilities so the snap cap is a MUST for all gun owners. Used in your training regime this will improve your response to malfunctions far above their cost.
